Wondering who will be speaking at the 2026 Bennett Oxford Symposium on Open Code in Science? Wonder no more!
We’re pleased to share that Dorothy Bishop, Emeritus Professor of Developmental Neuropsychology at the University of Oxford and Terence Eden, an open source developer, open data publisher, and cyber-security consultant will be joining us as two featured speakers at the Bennett Oxford Symposium on 8 December 2026.
Dorothy has spent her career studying language impairment in children, and has also become a leader in the scientific “sleuth” community identifying fraudulent or otherwise problematic research in the literature. We’re thrilled that Dorothy will be sharing her experiences with us at the Symposium. Check out Dorothy’s blog to learn more about the exciting work she has been up to.
Terence is a board member of OpenUK and has held a variety of positions in and around government and academia, often focused on open-tech including at Science Oxford, NHSX and the Cabinet Office. He’ll be sharing some reflections on his work open sourcing the UK’s COVID Tracing App at the NHS. You can find out more about Terence’s work in his blog.
If you haven’t registered for Day 1 of the conference yet, we have some good news and some bad news for you - bad news: tickets are sold out, but good news: there’s a waitlist! If you’d like to join us for Day 1, please register on the waitlist, and we’ll be sure to email you when/if a spot becomes available.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please email events.bennett@phc.ox.ac.uk. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
About the Bennett Institute Symposium
This year’s meeting will mark the third annual Bennett Institute Symposium. Our previous symposia have focused on OpenSAFELY, our award-winning platform for analysing large, sensitive datasets, and medicines data - including the digital tools, such as OpenPrescribing - that support better research, policy, and clinical practice.
